ABOUT US

naturally Negros is a business dealing with sales of fresh vegetables, mango, quail eggs and pork products from our farms. It works to generate income for the deaf, thus the vast majority of the workers are deaf. The income generated by Naturally Negros pays the workers salaries, and the expenses of the farm.  Any additional proceeds go to support the various ministries of its mother organization - Philippine immanuel Churches of the Deaf, Incorporated (PICD, Inc.).  ministries include dormitories for deaf school aged children, individual child sponsorship, Deaf pastors/churches and a Bible College.

The "Pilot" property

The Pilot property houses the already-established projects, that have been ongoing since 2011. the quail cages currently house 270 quail hens with around 220 eggs produced daily.  we hope to expand this successful quail business as we have found a significatnt market for the eggs in nearby dumaguete.

the chicken layer project is our only livelihood project to date.  It was established to provide livelihood and independance to a deaf and blind man.  The project has 45 laying hens, with another hundred which should mature to laying age by April 2014. the demand for chicken eggs is good, and presently we can not keep up with the demand. unlike the proceeds from income generating projects.

Along with the egg projects, our original pigery is on the main property with a capacity of 14 growerss, plus 3 sows.

the pilot property is also home to our many vegetable and herb gardens.

 The Farm

The farm is a 4.7 hectare mango orchard that was purhased in July 2013 with hopes of expanding the business and generating more income for the deaf.  a 48 head capacity piggery has been constructed. When fully up and running the pigery will more than double the capacity for pork products for sale at the store.  Our target market is local merchants, restaurants, hotels and resorts. There are plans in the future to build an additional two pigeries should the demand support it.

the farm  has Additional vegetable gardens to supply a larger quantity and variety of vegetables. We are currently "off-grid" and hope to have a year-round water supply from the nearby river in the next six months for irrigation of the orchard and vegetable gardens planted between the 238 mature mango trees.

Naturally Negros aims to use "sustainable agriculture" for all of its produce.  pig manure is made into compost, then introduced back into the soil or fed to our thousands of worms to produce "vermicast" as fertilizer instead of chemical alternatives.  The mango trees will eventually be sprayed with other organic substances instead of the typical use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.  The deaf Mix their own organic feeds for pigs, chickens and quail.
